The Library offers its members the ability to connect remotely to the Library’s electronic resources (such as databases, electronic books, scholarly articles, etc.) through a VPN (Virtual Private Network) service. This allows students, faculty members, and researchers to access the same resources they would have if they were physically connected to the ASFA network.
How It Works:
When a user connects through VPN:
The connection is encrypted: The VPN creates an encrypted connection (or “tunnel”) between the user and the Library network. This ensures that data transmission remains secure and private.
Use of the Internal Network: The VPN allows the user to appear as though they are connected directly from within the university’s internal network, even when located outside the university premises.
Access to Subscription Resources: Many resources, such as scholarly databases and electronic journals, are accessible only through the university network, including HEAL-Link and the database of ProQuest Art & Humanities. Through VPN access, users can connect to these subscription services from anywhere.
