Access Rules of Collections

ACCESS TO THE COLLECTIONS OF THE LIBRARY
In order to ensure the smooth operation of the Library and the protection of its collections, user cooperation and compliance with the following rules are essential :
  1. General Rules:
  • For faster and more effective service, please consult the Library Usage Regulations
  • Informational leaflets regarding current artistic events and activities in Greece and abroad are regularly displayed near the main entrance.
  • A suggestion and complaints box is available on the 1st floor for comments or observations regarding the Library’s collections and services.
  1. Use of Material:
  • Used books are returned to the shelves exclusively by the Library staff. Users should leave them either on the wheeled carts available in the reading rooms or closed on the tables.
  • Printed material may only be used within the designated Library areas unless borrowing is permitted.
  • Removal of printed material from the Library without authorization is prohibited.
  1. Loan of Material:
  • Users are required to follow the borrowing procedures established by the Library.
  • Books must be returned by the designated due date.
  • In the event of late return, a fine is imposed for each day of delay. Please consult the Loan Regulations for further information.
  1. Care and Handling of Material:
  • Users must handle printed material carefully in order to avoid wear and damage.
  • Writing, underlining, folding pages, or any other form of intervention on library material is prohibited.
  • If damaged material is identified, users must immediately inform the Library staff.
  1. Use of the Reading Room
  • The reading room is intended for study and research in a quiet environment.
  • Users are required to maintain silence and respect other visitors.
  • The use of mobile phones or other noisy devices is prohibited.
  1. Reproduction of Material:
  • Photocopying is not permitted for large-format books due to the risk of damage.
  • Photocopying or scanning of material is permitted in accordance with current copyright legislation.
  • Users must follow staff instructions regarding the reproduction of material.
  • Users are expected to handle all provided equipment responsibly and avoid causing damage or wear.
  1. Personal Belongings:
  • Lockers for bags, coats, and other personal belongings are available near the main entrance.
  • Smoking (including vaping), as well as the consumption of food and beverages, is prohibited throughout all Library areas.
  1. Behavior and Respect:
  • Users must behave respectfully toward Library staff and other users.
  • Any violation of the regulations may result in the loss of Library usage privileges.

For questions or difficulties, users are encouraged to seek assistance from the staff at the Service Desk.
