MISSION OF THE LIBRARY
The mission of the Library & Information Center of A.S.F.A. is:
- To provide scientific and research information services to members of the university community and to operate as an Information Center.
- To collect, process, and provide access for its members to all information resources available to the institution.
- To collect and organize the scientific and artistic work produced by members of ASFA through repositories, digital libraries, and databases, while also promoting and showcasing the institution’s output.
- To contribute to the retrieval, management, provision, and dissemination of specialized information to the wider national and international community.
- To actively participate in all activities related to education and culture.
- The continuous enrichment of its collections.
- The collection, management, preservation, utilization, and promotion of the content of its collections.
- The equal provision of access to information while ensuring the protection of users’ personal data.
- The provision of educational programs for users.
- The development of appropriate spaces and the procurement of the necessary equipment to support educational and research activities.
- The staffing of its departments with specialized and sufficient personnel, as well as their continuous training and professional development.
- The provision of equal access and services for people with disabilities and vulnerable social groups, alongside the implementation of inclusive policies and actions without exclusions.
- The continuous monitoring, evaluation, and improvement of its services.
- The promotion and dissemination of its services through its website, social media, the organization of events, and collaborations with other cultural organizations.
- The publication of informational material, brochures, studies, user guides, and other printed or electronic resources.
- The contribution to the implementation of innovations and modern technological systems and applications within the library sector.
- The continuous maintenance and upgrading of information systems and technological equipment for both users and staff.
- The implementation of national and international standards related to its internal organization and the processing of library material.
- The identification and management of the necessary financial resources and/or sponsorships in the most beneficial manner.
Access to the Library of the Athens School of Fine Arts is open not only to students of other institutions but also to the wider reading public. Through the provision of its services beyond the ASFA community, the Library seeks to contribute to the broader advancement of artistic education and to the development of research in the field of Art History, with particular emphasis on modern Greek art.
